12th National Conference on “Earthing Systems“ on 10-11 October, 2019 at CBIP Conference Hall, Malcha Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi


The Central Board of Irrigation & Power in association with CIGRE-India and International Association on Electricity Generation, Transmission and Distribution (Afro-Asian Region) is organizing 12th National Conference on “Earthing Systems” on 10-11 October 2019 at Conference Hall of Central Board of Irrigation & Power, Malcha Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi 110021.

Gujarat Power Research & Development Cell was one of the participant of this National Conference. Many delegates from different Organizations including Power Utilities, PSUs, Research Labs, Manufacturers, Pvt. Sector Organizations etc. were attended in this Conference.

In this Conference, many technical presentations were made by Power Sector’s delegates on the subject of “Earthing Systems” during the Conference. The presentations were very focused, technical but simple to understand. The presenters made every effort to make it easy for the participants to grasp the subject. There was good amount of interaction with the participants.

Behalf of GPRD Cell, one presentation was presented in this National Conference by Mr. Dushyant R. Shah, Scientist, on “ Maintenance Free, Eco-Friendly, Ready Capsule, Pipe-In-Cage (PIC) Type Earthing For Power Distribution System - An Effective Solution For DISCOM needs “.

National Conference on “Maladies in Distribution Sector and its Remedies“ - CBIP on 29-30 August 2019 at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Teen Murthi Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi


The Central Board of Irrigation & Power (CBIP), CIGRE India jointly with BSES Yamuna Power, BSES Rajdhani Power and TPDDL and sponsored by Cargill and Gujarat Power Research & Development Cell - GUVNL has organised the National Conference on “Maladies in Distribution Sector and its Remedies' a success" on 29-30 August 2019 at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Teen Murthi Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.

Gujarat Power Research & Development Cell was one of the sponsor of this National Conference.

About 180 delegates from 45 organizations including Power Utilities, PSUs, Research Labs, Manufacturers, Pvt. Sector organizations etc. were attended this Conference.

The Conference started with the opening session on 29th August 2019. Shri V.K. Kanjlia, Secretary, CBIP delivered welcome address. Shri A.S. Bakshi, Chairman Organizing Committee, Former Member CERC & Former Chairman CEA, Shri Sanjay Banga, CEO, TPDDL, Shri P.R. Kumar, CEO, BSES Yamuna Power Ltd., Sh. N.K. Sharma, Director, PSPCL, Hon'ble Justice S.S. Chauhan, Chairperson, Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission, Sh. G.B. Pradhan, Former Chairman, CERC addressed during opening session. Shri P.P. Wahi, Director, CBIP proposed vote of thanks.

n this Conference, total 37 technical presentations were made by National & International level experts from BSES, TPDDL, Tata Power Mumbai, Taurus USA, ABB Ltd., GUVNL, CTR Manufacturing Industries Ltd., etc. on the subject during the Conference on best practices being adopted and including case studies etc.


The presentations were very focused, technical but simple to understand. The presenters made every effort to make it easy for the participants to grasp the subject. There was good amount of interaction with the participants.

Total Three Presentations were presented in this National Conference as:

  1. Mr. Hardik M. Sakariya, JE, has submitted a presentation on “Remote meter reading in remotely located scattered Agricultural Areas through LPWAN technology – An effective Techno-commercial solution for DISCOMs “ behalf of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, GUVNL, Gandhinagar in Technical Session – I, under the theme of “ Reforms in Distribution Sector including Smart Metering”.

  2. Mr. Jatin B. Upadhyay, EE(I/c), Mr. Sachin P. Rathod, JE & Mr. Hardik M. Sakariya, JE have jointly submitted a presentation on “ IoT based Intelligent Monitoring and Control System for effective utilization of distributed Solar Generation Assets of Agriculture Areas”.

  3. Mr. Jatin B. Upadhyay, EE(I/c), Mr. Sachin P. Rathod, JE & Mr. Hardik M. Sakariya, JE have jointly submitted a presentation on “Assessing the Impact of Harmonics on Distribution Transformer Having Solar Rooftop PV Installations” in Technical Session IV, under the theme of “ Best Practices on Power Quality and Accident Prevention & Safety”.
