Power Quality

The Power Quality is defined as the degree to which the power supply approaches the ideal case of stable, uninterrupted, zero distortion and disturbance free supply. It is also defined as the power grid's ability to supply a clean and stable power flow as a constantly available power supply. Electric power quality, or simply power quality, involves voltage, frequency, and waveform. Good power quality can be defined as a steady supply voltage that stays within the prescribed range, steady a.c. frequency close to the rated value, and smooth voltage curve waveform. In general, it is useful to consider power quality as the compatibility between what comes out of an electric outlet and the load that is plugged into it. Without the proper power, an electrical device (or load) may malfunction, fail prematurely or not operate at all. There are many ways in which electric power can be of poor quality and many more causes of such poor quality power.

There are several issues that affect the power quality:

  • Voltage sags and surges
  • Momentary power interruptions
  • Extended power interruptions
  • Harmonic distortion
  • Ground loops
  • High-speed transients
  • Electrical noise
  • Lightning damage or lack of preparedness

Power Safety

Power safety is a method to prevent damaging and hazardous effects to the field staff to the general people from electric current, electric curve, electromagnetic field and electricity. When any part of body comes into the contact with the electrical equipment or its circuit, an electric shock may happen. At that time, the electric current is entering in one part of the body which reaches the remaining part of entire body that causing boundless pain, burns, and even mortalities. For protecting to the field staff to general public should educate properly, create good work environment. To play safe with the power safety some electricity rules for the safety should be remember ever.


Power System Improvement

The Power Improvement System is work on few points such that constant stable supply, uninterrupted supply, Zero distortion, deviation less voltages. Perfect design of equipment etc. In current scenario, to design a perfect power system with a high reliability of supply in a limited cost is a technical challenge which attracted to various peoples in the power industry. A power improvement system is helpful to detect, characterize and classify disturbances in electrical lines. In the recent years, electric power users have noticed many of drawbacks caused by electric power quality variations, which was already occurred in the electrical system but recently they are affecting thoughtful complications. To know what kinds of disturbances occurred is main utensil in Power Improvement System Keeping in mind the Power Quality, Safety & System Improvement, many projects have been initiated.
